3 Paramount+ Horror Movies Guaranteed to Keep You Up Tonight

Embracing the Spooky Season

If you are looking to lean into the Sunday scaries rather than ward them off with a comforting feel-good watch, Paramount+ has you covered. The streaming platform recently added over 20 new horror movies to its library just in time for the spooky season. Whether you are a hardcore horror aficionado or someone looking for a mild thrill before the new week begins, here are the top three horror movies currently streaming on Paramount+ that deserve a spot on your watchlist.

1. 'It Follows'

For those looking to ease into the genre, It Follows is an exceptional entry point. Directed by David Robert Mitchell, the film stars Maika Monroe as Jay, a young woman stalked by a relentless supernatural entity after a seemingly harmless sexual encounter. The entity can take the form of anyone and will walk toward its victim at a slow, agonizing pace until it catches them. Featuring a phenomenal synth-heavy score and incredible slow-burn tension, It Follows will have you second-guessing every stranger you pass on the street.

2. 'Smile'

Stepping things up a notch, Smile dives deep into psychological paranoia and inescapable dread. The story centers on Dr. Rose Cotter, a therapist who witnesses a horrifying, gruesome suicide by a new patient. Afterward, Rose begins experiencing deeply unsettling and terrifying visions tied to a malevolent entity that passes itself from host to host via trauma. While the final creature reveal may lean slightly into campy territory, everything leading up to it is a masterclass in tension, unreliable narration, and jump scares.

3. 'Sinister'

Rounding out the list is the bone-chilling Sinister, starring Ethan Hawke. A decade before terrifying audiences in The Black Phone, Hawke delivered a powerhouse performance as Ellison Oswalt, a struggling true-crime writer who moves his family into a home where a brutal family murder took place. While settling in, Ellison discovers a box of horrific 8mm home movies in the attic depicting ritualistic killings. As he digs deeper into the mystery, a supernatural force begins to warp his reality, culminating in a bleak and unforgettable finale that is guaranteed to linger in your nightmares.
