If you miss 'The Office,' this hilarious Aussie hidden gem on Netflix is your next binge-watch

If you find yourself scouring streaming platforms for a show that captures that specific 'workplace comedy' magic, your search might just be over. While many viewers turn to the comfort of 'The Office,' 'Parks and Recreation,' or 'Abbott Elementary,' there is a sharp, dry-witted gem from Australia that deserves a spot on your watchlist: 'Fisk.'

What is 'Fisk' About?

Created by and starring comedian Kitty Flanagan, 'Fisk' centers on Helen Tudor-Fisk, a high-end corporate lawyer whose life and career in Sydney implode, forcing her to return to her hometown of Melbourne. In a bid to restart, she lands a role at Gruber & Gruber, a small, slightly chaotic law firm that specializes in wills and probate. Unlike high-stakes legal dramas that rely on courtroom fireworks and intense litigation, 'Fisk' thrives on the absurdity of everyday life. The humor is dry, observational, and deeply character-driven, focusing on the bizarre requests from clients and the eccentricities of her colleagues, played brilliantly by Marty Sheargold, Julia Zemiro, and Aaron Chen.

Why You Should Binge It Now

If you enjoy the mockumentary style of workplace sitcoms but crave something with a distinctively biting, sarcastic edge, this is the perfect series for you. It sits at the intersection of 'The Office's' comforting workplace antics and the sharp, observational humor found in 'Kath & Kim' or 'Utopia.'

Beyond the laughs, the show has earned significant critical acclaim. It secured the prestigious AACTA Award for Best Television Comedy Series, with Kitty Flanagan winning Best Comedy Performer. Its success as a 'sleeper hit' on Netflix has seen it climb the platform's global top 10 charts repeatedly, proving that its unique blend of heart and cynicism resonates well beyond Australia.

Where to Watch

With three seasons already available and a fourth season reportedly on the way, there has never been a better time to dive into the world of Gruber & Gruber. You can stream all current episodes of 'Fisk' on Netflix now. Whether you are looking for a quick laugh or a show to fill the void left by your last favorite sitcom, 'Fisk' is undoubtedly your next essential binge-watch.
