At least six people died and four were injured in a bus fire in Switzerland; police are focusing on human error "and even a deliberate act".
A bus with passengers on board caught fire on Tuesday evening, March 10, in a small town in the canton of Fribourg, in western Switzerland, leaving at least six dead and four injured, according to a new report from authorities reported by Le Temps.
"A fire broke out on a bus (...) in Kerzers" (Chiètres in French), had announced earlier the police of the canton of Fribourg on its Facebook account. "Several people were injured and several people died."
According to the daily newspaper La Liberté, police are favoring a human cause for the fire, "and even a deliberate act."
The public is asked to stay away from the area
Police indicated that the fire on this regional transport bus occurred around 6:25 p.m. on Murtenstrasse, the main street of this small town located in west of Bern. Police asked the public to stay away from the area and follow the instructions of emergency services. Local authorities were scheduled to hold a press conference later that evening.
