Disney+ is preparing a live-action Tinker Bell series
Known in cartoons and films, she will now have her own live-action series. According to the trade magazine Deadline, Disney is working on a live-action project about Tinker Bell. A drama series entrusted by the studio to screenwriters Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter, who will also serve as executive producers. According to Deadline, this is a "major project" for the Disney+ streaming platform, which is banking on this character created by J. M. Barrie in 1904 for the stage, and subsequently adapted countless times for the small and big screen. In 1991, Julia Roberts portrayed the mischievous winged creature in Steven Spielberg's film Hook.
No date announced
Ludivine Sagnier also lent her face to the little green fairy in 2003, in P.J. Hogan's film Peter Pan. The first Disney film entirely dedicated to her, *Tinker Bell*, was released in 2008. In 2023, Yara Shahidi, star of the series *Black-ish*, took over the role in *Peter Pan & Wendy*, a new adaptation of the Disney classic *Peter Pan*, released in 1953. Currently, the plot of the live-action Tinker Bell series is unknown. Its release date also remains a mystery. A live-action adaptation centered on the character has been in development at Disney since 2010. In 2015, the studio mentioned a live-action film with actress Reese Witherspoon in the lead role. Neither of these projects materialized.
