Firefighter attacked in the Alpes-Maritimes: the suspect arrested in Italy has been released

Four days after a female firefighter was attacked with a knife in front of a fire station in the Alpes-Maritimes region, a suspect was arrested in Italy before being handed over to France. He was released on Monday, March 9. While a suspect had been arrested in the investigation into the attack on a firefighter from the Fontan fire station (Alpes-Maritimes) on March 5, he has now been released. The suspect was arrested Sunday in Italy and extradited to France as part of an investigation led by the Menton gendarmerie brigade. According to the Nice public prosecutor, the suspect's custody has been lifted "due to a lack of evidence, particularly identification by the victim, to confirm his involvement." The incident occurred Thursday afternoon. A 47-year-old female firefighter was stabbed in the abdomen while on duty. Although she was hospitalized, her injuries were not life-threatening.
