Google launches Nano Banana 2 and promises a spectacular leap in image generation

After numerous iterations of its Gemini models, Google is now unveiling Nano Banana 2, a new version of its image generation engine.

With the aim of offering a faster, more precise, and more consistent model, Google also wants to democratize certain features previously reserved for paid subscriptions…

A merger of two models?

With the announcement of Nano Banana 2, Google merges the capabilities of Nano Banana and Nano Banana Pro into a single platform. The model is positioned between the standard version launched a few months ago and the Pro version, while incorporating several technological building blocks. One of the main improvements lies in its real-world awareness. Powered by data and images from Google search, the model can use up-to-date information to more accurately represent specific subjects. This approach improves the relevance of the renderings, particularly for creating infographics, diagrams, or data visualizations from simple text notes. This new update should also improve the text generation within images. Long considered the Achilles' heel of visual generators, typographic rendering gains in readability and precision. Nano Banana 2 can therefore produce consistent text, but also automatically translate and localize existing visual content.

The model also promises stricter adherence to instructions, and whether it concerns vertical formats, 4K resolution, or precise pixel width, the user can define detailed technical parameters.

For its part, visual consistency is enhanced, with the ability to maintain the likeness of up to five characters and the fidelity of fourteen objects in a single creation workflow. This opens up possibilities for advanced uses, such as producing storyboards or seamless visual series…

This new version should gradually replace Nano Banana Pro, while remaining accessible to Pro and Ultra subscribers.

Predefined templates are also being introduced, with finer controls for adjusting textures, lighting, and levels of detail. In its announcement, Google highlights very high-quality, photorealistic images, richer and sharper.

With Nano Banana 2, the company is attempting the delicate balance of offering increasingly powerful tools without increasing distrust of artificial content. This rapid technological evolution also raises the question of the role of human creativity in brand strategies…
