Images of the first foldable iPhone have leaked, revealing a very unexpected design.
For several years, rumors surrounding a foldable iPhone have fueled tech news.
While players like Samsung or Huawei already occupy this market, Apple has so far preferred to observe and refine its strategy. But new leaks could well mark a turning point…
Indeed, recently released 3D renderings give a very precise glimpse of what the first foldable iPhone could look like…

Sketches of the first foldable iPhone?

According to these images, the smartphone would adopt a very thin chassis and maintain flat edges, in line with recent iPhones. One particular feature stands out: the corners would be rounded on one side and more square on the other to accommodate the hinge. The camera module would also evolve, with Apple abandoning its traditional square block for a horizontal strip occupying the entire top of the smartphone. This strip could house two sensors and a flash. Once unfolded, the device would resemble a small tablet. The internal screen would have a diagonal of approximately 7.8 inches, while the external screen would measure approximately 5.3 inches. Apple is also reportedly working on a titanium hinge and a liquid metal alloy. This technology could reduce, or even eliminate, the central crease visible on many foldable smartphones. An Ultra smartphone… and potentially very expensive. The question of its name remains open. For a long time, the device was nicknamed the "iPhone Fold." However, some sources indicate that Apple might finally adopt the name "iPhone Ultra." This choice would not be insignificant, as it would position this model as a new high-end category above the Pro versions, in the same vein as the Apple Watch Ultra. In terms of performance, the device could feature the upcoming A20 Pro chip, also expected in the iPhone 18 Pro. This configuration would be accompanied by approximately 12 GB of RAM to efficiently handle multitasking on the internal screen. The launch could take place during an Apple keynote this fall, possibly in September. The price, meanwhile, would reflect the product's ambitions: some estimates suggest a price tag around $2,000, which would make it the most expensive iPhone ever sold by the brand. If this information is confirmed, Apple could finally enter the foldable smartphone market with a device clearly targeting the most premium segment. But to do so, the company will have to succeed in redefining the user experience on this type of device, as it has already done in the past with other product categories…
