Meta adds AI to Facebook Marketplace to automatically respond to buyers
As peer-to-peer resale platforms continue to gain popularity, Meta is accelerating the integration of AI into its services, notably with new developments for Facebook Marketplace.
At the heart of these new features is the arrival of a system capable of automatically responding to buyer messages thanks to Meta AI, saving sellers time and simplifying the process of listing items for sale…

On Facebook Marketplace, sellers often receive numerous messages, some of which are very repetitive, such as the question "Is this item still available?" which is among the most frequent.
To address this situation, Meta is adding an auto-response feature generated by Meta AI. Specifically, when a buyer sends a message about a product, the AI can automatically write a response based on the information in the listing.
Sellers, for their part, can activate this option when creating the listing, then preview and edit the suggested responses before using them. The idea is to automate initial interactions, without preventing the seller from resuming the conversation later.
With this feature, Meta aims to address the constraint of managing numerous identical messages, which are time-consuming and don't always provide real value.
AI also helps create ads and set prices

This new feature is part of a series of other AI-powered improvements on Facebook Marketplace in a press release.
Meta AI can now automatically generate an ad from a simple photo of the item. After the image is imported, the AI populates an initial version of the listing by adding relevant information and suggesting a price based on similar items sold in the same geographic area. Meta also adds an automatic seller profile summary visible at the top of their Marketplace page, with information on their Facebook profile history, number of friends on the platform, sales history, types of items offered, and buyer ratings. Finally, sellers can now more easily offer shipping for their listings, with a new dashboard that allows them to generate prepaid shipping labels and track orders. With these additions, Meta continues the gradual integration of its Meta AI assistant into its various products, aiming to automate certain daily tasks for users. And for Facebook Marketplace, this could fundamentally transform how individuals publish and manage their listings…
