Snapchat is banking on paid subscriptions to attract creators.
As the battle rages between major social platforms to attract and retain creators, including on X, Snap is deploying a new strategic element with the launch of "Creator Subscriptions," a paid subscription service that allows users to financially support their favorite creators.
For now, the feature is being tested in alpha version in the United States, starting February 23, 2026, with a limited number of profiles. But France is already among the next target markets, a sign that the group intends to accelerate the monetization of local talent…
A subscription model integrated into Snapchat
As we can read in the official announcement, with these subscriptions, Snapchat is adding a "premium" layer directly integrated" into existing features, including the Stories that made the social network so successful. With the number of Spotlight users reportedly increasing by 47% year-over-year in the United States, Snapchat wants to capitalize on this momentum to accelerate its growth.
Gradual Development
In a Initially, subscriptions will be available on iOS for select American creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson. The program is then expected to expand to Canada, the UK, and France in the coming weeks.
With this feature, Snap aims to transform engagement into sustainable revenue and retain high-profile talent, and given the proliferation of paid subscriptions, the challenge is significant…
