Jamila Haddoum, a 44-year-old social worker, tenth on the LFI list headed by Florian Kobryn, was attacked Friday evening in downtown Strasbourg while she was with her children, aged 15 and 16.
Jamila Haddoum filmed the scene, a video she showed to journalists on her cell phone and which was posted on the social network X. Alongside her at this press conference, Florian Kobryn stated that "what happened is part of a general context of increasing fascism with a rise of the far right and a campaign which is organized against La France Insoumise."
This campaign is "orchestrated by the far right and relayed by the extreme center," with "direct consequences for our activists and members, for our fellow candidates."
He received the support of Socialist candidate Catherine Trautmann and Green mayor Jeanne Barseghian, who is running for re-election.
LFI calls for "a peaceful end to the campaign"
"I denounce the deadly climate of hatred and distrust towards La France Insoumise, which is nevertheless the first bulwark against the rise of the far right. We call for a republican and anti-fascist resurgence, as well as a peaceful end to the campaign, far from the attacks to which we are being subjected," Florian Kobryn continued in his statement.
Reached by telephone, he told AFP that This attack comes on top of other incidents targeting the party over the past two weeks. "The lock on the campaign office was forced, glue was put in the lock. Excrement was left in front of the office," he listed, lamenting that with this attack, "things are taking a completely different turn." At the end of February, Jeanne Barseghian's campaign office was tagged with slogans like "This is France" and "Death to traitors." A former spokesperson for the anti-fascist movement La Jeune Garde, Cem Yoldas, has withdrawn from leading a far-left list due to death threats he has received since the fatal attack in Lyon on the radical far-right activist Quentin Deranque.
