"The speed limit is reduced by 20 km/h": the Seine-Maritime prefecture maintains its alert procedure against fine particles

As an episode of fine particulate matter has been affecting Seine-Maritime since Friday, March 6, the prefecture is maintaining its alert procedure until Sunday. The cause: the accumulation of pollutants and the arrival of Saharan dust in the air.

It's time to slow down. A new episode of air pollution is reported this Saturday, March 7. The Seine-Maritime prefecture is warning of the presence of fine particulate matter "due to a plume of desert dust at high altitude." An alert procedure has therefore been activated until Sunday, March 8th, across the entire department.

These pollution peaks can lead to the onset or worsening of allergies, asthma, respiratory irritation, or have cardiopulmonary effects; several actions must be taken during the alert period.

A speed reduction of 20 km/h

It is advisable to prioritize shorter outings and those requiring the least effort, as well as reducing or even postponing intense physical and sporting activities, both indoors and outdoors.

In case of respiratory discomfort, it is recommended to consult a healthcare professional.

On the network On roads, the speed limit is reduced by 20 km/h without going below 70 km/h. On highways, the speed limit is thus reduced from 130 to 110 km/h, from 110 to 90 km/h on expressways, and from 90/80 to 70 km/h on other roads. For pedestrians, public transport is free in Rouen and Le Havre.
