WhatsApp is taking things to the next level with AI and can now reply on your behalf.

After integrating Meta AI, WhatsApp continues its AI integration with a series of new features, including a notable evolution of its message completion tool. Now, AI can suggest complete replies based directly on the context of a conversation.

In addition to this assisted writing feature, the application also adds new options to manage storage space, edit photos with Meta AI, and even use multiple accounts on iPhone

AI capable of writing responses from context

The main new feature concerns the "Writing Help tool, a writing assistance tool. Launched last August, it already allowed users to rephrase a message, correct a mistake, or adapt the tone of a text before sending it. With this update, WhatsApp takes another step forward: AI can now directly generate a complete reply from the current conversation. The goal is to help users quickly find the most suitable wording. In practice, this feature is accessed via the chat bar: simply open the text field, tap the sticker icon, and then select the icon that represents a pencil with sparkles, indicating that the AI is activated. Meta emphasizes one point, however: even when this feature is used, conversations will remain private. Thus, the company seeks to keep users within its application rather than seeing them use external tools to compose their messages.

WhatsApp also adds tools to manage files and photos

Beyond AI-powered writing, WhatsApp is also adding several very practical features to its application.

The first concerns storage management, where users can now more easily locate and delete large files directly from a conversation. It's even possible to delete only media (photos or videos) while keeping the message history. The app also integrates photo editing based on Meta AI directly into chats, and among the uses mentioned, Meta cites removing an unwanted element from an image, changing the background, or applying a specific visual style before sending. Finally, WhatsApp continues to harmonize its features across platforms. iPhone users can now log in to two accounts simultaneously, an option already available on Android. The transfer of chat history is also becoming smoother, especially between iOS and Android.

An increasingly assisted messaging experience…

With these new features, WhatsApp illustrates a trend affecting all digital platforms: the gradual integration of intelligent assistants directly into everyday interfaces.

Stickers, added in 2018, are becoming more contextual, for example, as the application can now suggest stickers based on the emojis typed in the message. The goal is to streamline communication and make writing more interactive.

With each update, WhatsApp is thus moving closer to an assisted messaging service, where AI participates in writing, organizing files, and even creating visual content…
