3 New to Prime Video Movies to Watch This Weekend (Oct. 9-11)

As we settle into the cozy overlap of autumn and the spooky season, it’s the perfect time to fire up your streaming devices. Amazon Prime Video has recently expanded its library, adding over 130 new titles on October 1st alone. If you are looking for the perfect flick to round out your weekend, we have curated a selection of must-watch titles that deliver thrills, chills, and cinematic mastery.

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024)

For those seeking creature-feature action, the explosive team-up of two iconic cinematic monsters is now available. Directed by Adam Wingard, this sequel finds the giant ape navigating the Hollow Earth and discovering his own species. The narrative kicks into high gear as Kong faces the sadistic Skar King, forcing a reluctant alliance with his former rival, Godzilla, to save both their kin and humanity. It is an ideal pick if you want high-stakes spectacle.

The Witch (2016)

If you prefer your horror with a side of historical atmosphere, look no further than Robert Eggers' directorial debut, 'The Witch'. Featuring a breakout performance from Anya Taylor-Joy, this 1630s-set folk horror film is deeply unsettling. It follows an isolated Puritan family whose lives descend into psychological and supernatural terror after their youngest child vanishes. Its haunting imagery and slow-burn tension make it an essential watch for fans of elevated horror.

There Will Be Blood (2008)

While perhaps not a traditional thriller, Paul Thomas Anderson’s masterpiece remains one of the most chilling character studies ever filmed. Daniel Day-Lewis delivers an Academy Award-winning performance as Daniel Plainview, an oil tycoon whose insatiable greed leads to a bitter, destructive feud with a local preacher. It is a brilliant, dark, and sprawling epic that explores the corruption of the American dream.

Whether you want the pulse-pounding action of giant monsters or the deep, psychological dread of classic horror, these three additions to Prime Video offer something for every viewer this weekend.
