Playground Games has officially cleared the air regarding the future of the Forza Horizon franchise, confirming long-awaited details for both the PS5 expansion and the game's post-launch support. Ending months of speculation and recent leaks, the studio has set a firm timeline for the title's multi-platform rollout and its inaugural premium content.
The Road to PlayStation 5
Following earlier rumors and reports that suggested a potential shift in the release window, it is now confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on the PlayStation 5 on January 26, 2027. This move marks a significant expansion for the racing series, bringing the critically acclaimed open-world formula to a wider audience on Sony's hardware.
First Premium Expansion Detailed
Complementing the PS5 launch, Playground Games announced that the first Premium expansion for Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for release on January 21, 2027. This expansion will be available across all platforms—Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5—simultaneously. Players who have purchased the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade bundle, or the specific expansion pass will receive this content at no additional cost. Furthermore, it will be available for individual purchase for those who prefer to pick and choose their DLC.
Free Content and Edition Breakdown
In addition to the premium DLC, the development team promised a free content update for all users, coinciding with the launch of the PlayStation version. While specific details regarding this update remain under wraps, more information is expected to be shared closer to the January release date.
To prepare players for the launch, Playground Games has also detailed the various versions available for purchase:
- Standard Edition (€69.99): Includes the base game.
- Deluxe Edition (€99.99): Includes the base game, Welcome Pack, and Car Pass.
- Premium Edition (€119.99): The definitive experience, featuring 5 days of early access (starting Jan 21), VIP membership, exclusive car packs (Time Attack and Italian Passion), and both planned expansions.
As an extra incentive, any player who pre-orders an edition of the game on PS5 will receive a special, pre-configured Ferrari J50, which will be accessible in the player's garage immediately following the completion of the game's introductory prologue.
