I spent the last year testing open earbuds — these are my top picks in the October Prime Day sale

Introduction to Open Earbuds and Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days

Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days are officially underway, bringing massive discounts across a wide spectrum of tech gear. For audio enthusiasts and casual listeners alike, this sale event is the prime opportunity to pick up top-tier equipment without breaking the bank. Over the past year, extensive testing has gone into evaluating the latest audio gear on the market, with a special focus on open earbuds. These unique audio devices have become a personal favorite, and thanks to current promotional pricing, some of the absolute best-sounding open buds are more accessible than ever before.

Open earbuds bridge the gap between immersive listening and situational awareness. Unlike traditional in-ear monitors or active noise-canceling (ANC) earbuds that seal off the ear canal, open designs allow ambient sounds to filter through naturally. This makes them ideal for outdoor runners, office workers who need to stay alert to their surroundings, and anyone who experiences discomfort from deep-insertion tips. Four standout open earbuds have emerged from a full year of rigorous testing, all currently featured with significant price cuts on Amazon.

For listeners who prioritize pristine audio fidelity above all else, the Beyerdynamic Amiron ZERO earbuds are the ultimate recommendation. Engineered for immaculate sound replication with exceptional detail, these buds allow you to enjoy your favorite tracks while remaining fully aware of the environment around you. They offer a robust 20-hour total battery life and feature an IP54 durability rating, ensuring they easily withstand intense workouts and outdoor adventures. Furthermore, users benefit from precise EQ control via the companion mobile application to tune the sound signature to personal preferences. With a stellar 27-hour battery life, they comfortably last an entire work week on a single charge cycle. Originally priced at $299, a massive $120 discount drops them down to $179 for Prime Day.

4. EarFun Clip 2

Another brilliant budget-conscious recommendation is the EarFun Clip 2. Delivering a solid 40 hours of battery life, these lightweight clip-on earbuds stand out by integrating a real-time AI translation feature.
