The Nintendo Switch Online service continues to expand its retro gaming library, offering subscribers a nostalgic trip back to the Game Boy Advance era. Starting October 14, 2026, the service added three notable titles to its collection for both the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, including a long-awaited localization.

A New Era for Classic Gaming

Following the successful model established by major subscription services, Nintendo is leveraging its back catalog to provide value to its users. By bringing Game Boy Advance titles to modern hardware, Nintendo bridges the gap between historical gaming milestones and today’s players. The latest update, available to those with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, features a diverse selection of titles that showcase the versatility of the GBA’s library.

The Three New Additions

The latest update introduces three distinct gaming experiences that defined their respective genres on the portable console:

  • Monster Rancher Advance (2001): An engaging simulation title focused on breeding, raising, and training unique monsters to compete in high-stakes tournaments.
  • Metal Slug Advance (2004): A quintessential run-and-gun arcade experience that brings the intense, high-energy action of the Metal Slug franchise to the handheld platform.
  • Kururin Paradise (2002): A challenging puzzle game where players must carefully navigate a rotating rod through intricate labyrinths without touching the walls.

Kururin Paradise: Breaking the 24-Year Seclusion

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this update is the arrival of Kururin Paradise. Developed by Eighting, this sequel to the original Kuru Kuru Kururin was previously exclusive to Japan. For 24 years, Western fans of the series have been unable to experience this improved iteration, which gained critical acclaim for its complex level design, refined mechanics, and addictive mini-games. This release marks its first-ever official availability outside of Japan, offering a fresh challenge for puzzle enthusiasts who appreciate high-difficulty gameplay.
