3 Apple TV Plus Shows to Curl Up With This Rainy Weekend

As the clouds gather and the rain settles in for the weekend, there is nothing quite like finding the perfect series to binge-watch from the comfort of your couch. While some might suggest high-energy blockbusters or intense thrillers, there is a special kind of satisfaction in picking a show that offers a cozy escape—even if the subject matter isn't strictly 'gentle.' Apple TV Plus has become a surprising powerhouse for such storytelling, offering high-quality narratives that are perfect for a lazy, rainy day.

1. Bad Sisters

'Bad Sisters' is a masterclass in tone, perfectly balancing dark comedy with a gripping mystery. Set against the breathtaking, moody backdrop of the Irish coast, the show follows the Garvey sisters, whose fierce loyalty to one another is put to the test following the death of their brother-in-law. It is a show about family dynamics, secrets, and the lengths siblings will go to for each other. While it deals with themes of murder and betrayal, the witty dialogue and stunning scenery make it an incredibly immersive watch for a weekend inside.

2. Platonic

If you prefer something that balances humor with relatable human connection, 'Platonic' is a fantastic choice. The show reunites comedy legends Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, who play two childhood best friends navigating midlife crises. Unlike your typical romantic comedy, this series refreshingly focuses on the messy, complex, and often hilarious reality of platonic adult friendship. It is the perfect tonic for a rainy day, offering plenty of laughs without losing sight of the deeper, often awkward, journey of growing up.

3. Slow Horses

It might seem counterintuitive to call a spy thriller a 'cozy' watch, but 'Slow Horses' earns its place on this list. The series features a group of disgraced MI5 agents exiled to a purgatory known as Slough House. Led by the irascible Jackson Lamb, played brilliantly by Gary Oldman, the show is character-driven, sharp, and intensely engaging. Because it focuses on the internal politics of an underdog team rather than mindless action, it becomes a show you can easily sink into, episode after episode, while the rain falls outside. Its 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes is well-earned, proving that even a show about MI5 failures can become a viewer's ultimate comfort companion.
