To save you from endless scrolling, we have handpicked five essential horror movies currently streaming on the platform that are perfect for your next movie night.

1. Ready or Not (2019)

If you want a mix of dark humor and genuine tension, 'Ready or Not' is an absolute must-watch. Starring the brilliant Samara Weaving as Grace, the film follows a young bride who marries into the wealthy, eccentric Le Domas family. However, the wedding night takes a twisted turn when she is forced to participate in a deadly game of hide-and-seek. It is brutal, funny, and incredibly fast-paced, making it an excellent choice for a high-energy horror night.

2. The Witch (2015)

For those who prefer their scares to settle deep in the bones, Robert Eggers' directorial debut, 'The Witch', remains the gold standard for modern folk horror. Set in 1630s New England, the story follows a devout family struggling to survive in the wilderness, only to be torn apart by an unknown, supernatural evil lurking in the forest. It is a slow-burn masterpiece that thrives on dread, helped significantly by a haunting musical score.

3. Oculus (2013)

Directed by Mike Flanagan, 'Oculus' is a masterclass in psychological horror. The film centers on siblings Kaylie and Tim as they attempt to dismantle the power of an antique mirror they believe caused the death of their parents years earlier. By skillfully weaving together timelines, the film forces the audience to question reality, creating a disorienting and deeply unsettling viewing experience.

4. Ghostbusters (1984)

Looking for something that captures the spirit of Halloween without keeping you awake in fear? The 1984 classic 'Ghostbusters' remains the ultimate supernatural comedy. Following three eccentric parapsychologists who start a ghost-catching service in New York, this film is pure nostalgia. It perfectly balances spooky aesthetics with legendary comedic performances from Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis.

5. The Black Phone (2021)

Rounding out our list is the chilling 'The Black Phone'. This adaptation of Joe Hill's short story transports viewers to a grim 1970s suburb where a young boy is kidnapped by a masked serial killer known as 'The Grabber.' Trapped in a soundproof basement, the protagonist uses a mysterious, disconnected phone to communicate with previous victims. With an iconic performance by Ethan Hawke and terrifying special effects, it is easily one of the most memorable horror films of the last decade.
