Innovative appliance manufacturer Copper has officially launched the 'New Charlie,' an upgraded version of its groundbreaking battery-powered induction stove. Following the initial success of the Classic Charlie, this latest iteration introduces significant performance enhancements and increased installation flexibility, further establishing the brand as a leader in sustainable, high-efficiency kitchen technology.
Greater Power and Faster Performance
The most significant upgrade in the New Charlie lies in its heating capabilities. The induction coils have been boosted to 3000 Watts, an increase from the 2800 Watts found in the original model. Furthermore, the broiler performance has been enhanced, moving from 2700 Watts to 3000 Watts. These technical improvements result in a faster cooking experience; Copper claims that the new unit boils water 3 to 4 times faster than traditional gas burners and reduces the time required to preheat the oven to 350°F to just 3 minutes and 50 seconds.
Increased Installation Flexibility
A major pain point for some users of the original stove was the reliance on 120-volt outlets. The New Charlie addresses this directly by offering support for both 120-volt and 240-volt electrical setups. While the unit ships with a standard 120-volt plug, homeowners now have the option to install a 240 VAC field-wireable attachment, providing a more robust power delivery for those with compatible wiring.
Reliability Through Battery Backup
Despite the power upgrades, the New Charlie maintains the core innovation that put Copper on the map: an integrated battery system. This crucial feature ensures that the stove remains fully functional during power outages, offering peace of mind to homeowners who prioritize energy independence and resilience.
Pricing and Availability
The New Charlie is available now, though the performance and feature upgrades come at a premium. Pricing starts at $6,799 for the Inkwell Black Polymer finish, while the premium Black Walnut design is priced at $7,199. This represents an $800 price increase over the previous generation, reflecting the advanced hardware packed into this modern kitchen centerpiece.
