Everything new on Apple TV in October 2026: 'Matchbox the Movie' and much more

As October ushers in the official start of spooky season, Apple TV is packing its library with a diverse lineup of thrilling films, returning fantasy favorites, and gripping dramas. With seven buzzy new titles heading to the platform this month, subscribers have plenty of compelling content to stream as the nights grow longer.

'The Sisters Grimm' Season 2 (October 2)

Kicking off the month on October 2, the animated fantasy adaptation returns for its second installment. Based on Michael Buckley’s beloved children’s book series, season two reunites viewers with sleuthing sisters Sabrina and Daphne Grimm (voiced by Ariel Winter and Leah Newman) one year after their parents' mysterious disappearance. Set in Ferryport Landing—a whimsical town populated by fairy-tale creatures—the siblings continue uncovering magical mysteries and fantastical adventures. All six episodes will drop simultaneously.

'The Last First: Winter K2' (October 2)

For extreme-nature enthusiasts and documentary buffs, this harrowing feature from director Amir Bar-Lev lands on the very same day. Following its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, the film chronicles an elite team of mountaineers—including Icelandic climber John Snorri Sigurjónsson and the Pakistani father-son duo Muhammad Ali Sadpara and Sajid Sadpara—as they tackle the historic first-ever successful winter ascent of K2, Earth's second-highest peak, affectionately known as 'The Savage Mountain.'

'Small Prophets' (October 7)

Crossing the Atlantic on October 7, this critically acclaimed British dramedy series created by Mackenzie Crook arrives with immense praise. Starring Pearce Quigley as Michael Sleep, a grieving Manchester resident attempting to grow tiny, future-predicting homunculi in garden water jars, the eccentric series explores his quest to uncover the truth behind his partner Clea's disappearance seven years prior. Already renewed for a second season, the show has been hailed as a brilliant piece of magical realism.

'Matchbox: The Movie' (October 9)

John Cena leads this high-octane live-action feature as Sean Walker, an undercover CIA agent who returns to his hometown only to drag his childhood friends into a sprawling international conspiracy. Framed by the CIA for stealing a nuclear warhead, Walker and his crew have no choice but to pull off the ultimate heist to clear their names. Inspired by the classic die-cast vehicle line created in 1953, this film delivers massive blockbuster thrills.

'Tenzing' (October 16)

Set against the majestic backdrop of the Himalayas, this biographical drama explores the historic 1953 Mount Everest expedition. Genden Phuntsok stars as Tenzing Norgay, the legendary climber who reached the summit alongside Edmund Hillary, played by Tom Hiddleston. Willem Dafoe rounds out the stellar cast as Colonel John Hunt, the expedition leader navigating interpersonal tensions and mountaineering triumphs.

'Where's Wanda?' Season 2 (October 21)

Apple TV’s hit German-language dark comedy returns for a twisted second season. After successfully tracking down their missing daughter in season one, Carlotta and Dedo Klatt (Heike Makatsch and Axel Stein) find themselves in even deeper trouble when Wanda (Lea Drinda) is discovered standing over a fresh corpse. The couple must dive headfirst into the suburban criminal underworld to prove her innocence.

'Nocturne' (October 30)

Closing out the month just in time for Halloween, this tense thriller stars Liev Schreiber as Jonah Lynn, an exhausted Philadelphia homicide detective seeking peace in a small Pennsylvania town. When notorious serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham) sets his sights on Jonah's family, an intense cat-and-mouse game ensues, featuring Zazie Beetz as FBI agent Saga Bauer going undercover to extract crucial answers.
