Naughty Dog Breaks Silence on 'Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet': Release Window Confirmed for 2027

Introduction: The Long Silence Surrounding Naughty Dog's Next Big Project

It has been nearly two years since Naughty Dog first teased their next monumental project during The Game Awards 2024. Since then, fans of the critically acclaimed studio have been left in the dark, craving any shred of information about what is being touted as the developer's most ambitious title to date. Now, studio head Neil Druckmann has officially broken the silence, setting a clear timeline for when players will finally get a deep dive into the science-fiction universe.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Set for a Major 2027 Showcase

During the studio's traditional updates, Druckmann addressed the eager community directly. Acknowledging the long wait since the release of The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and the cancellation of the multiplayer project The Last of Us Factions, the studio head emphasized that the entire team is working relentlessly behind the scenes.

"The team is firing on all cylinders on what is shaping up to be Naughty Dog’s most ambitious game yet," Druckmann shared on the official studio channels. While confirming that the studio intends to remain quiet for the remainder of the year to focus purely on development, he delivered the news fans were hoping for: 2027 will mark the grand unveiling of the game.

High Praises and Soaring Expectations from Troy Baker

Excitement for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet isn't just internal. Industry veteran Troy Baker recently shared glowing remarks during a convention appearance, ramping up the hype even further. According to Baker, the game is set to completely blow players away, noting that the studio is pushing past previous technical and narrative limitations.

Baker also heaped praise on Tati Gabrielle, who plays the game's protagonist, Jordan, calling her a spiritual successor to Ashley Johnson's legendary portrayal of Ellie. With cinematic production already wrapped up and seasoned voice talent involved—including a confirmed role for Baker himself—the sci-fi epic is shaping up to be a defining moment for the current console generation.

A Fresh Look and a New Direction

Accompanying the update, Naughty Dog released a brand-new promotional image featuring Jordan against a breathtaking alien backdrop. This visual tease reinforces the idea that Intergalactic will offer an aesthetic and gameplay experience radically different from the gritty, grounded realism of The Last of Us or Uncharted. As the studio hunkers down to finish development, players can rest assured that 2027 will finally bring the answers—and the gameplay footage—they have been waiting for.
