5 Best New Movies and Shows to Stream on Netflix This Week (Sept. 28 - Oct. 4)

As the calendar turns to a new month, Netflix is refreshing its massive library with a significant influx of content. Between September 28 and October 4, 2026, the streaming giant is adding 71 new titles to its platform. Navigating such a vast update can be overwhelming, so we have curated the top five must-watch selections for your viewing pleasure this week.

Top Picks for the Week

1. LEGO One Piece Fans of the hit live-action One Piece series are in for a treat with this two-part special. Narrated by Jacob Romero, who voices Usopp, this charming, brick-built retelling covers the events of the show's first two seasons. It is an ideal entry point for younger viewers and a delightful watch for long-time fans of both anime and the classic LEGO aesthetic.

2. The Widower: 'Til Death Do Us Part True crime enthusiasts, take note. This feature-length documentary dives deep into a harrowing real-life case. Through the investigations of a dedicated detective and a tenacious journalist, the film uncovers the dark reality of a killer whose charisma was merely a mask for a lifetime of deception, manipulation, and violence.

3. East of Eden One of the most highly anticipated debuts of the fall, this series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel is a sprawling multi-generational drama. Set in the early 20th century in California's Salinas Valley, the series boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Florence Pugh, Mike Faist, Christopher Abbott, and Ciarán Hinds, all telling the epic story of the Trask and Hamilton families.

4. The Bourne Identity For those who prefer high-stakes espionage, the complete Jason Bourne collection arrives on Netflix this October 1. The standout, of course, is the film that started it all, The Bourne Identity. Matt Damon’s breakout performance as the amnesiac super-spy offers a gritty, grounded alternative to traditional spy thrillers, and it remains a quintessential action movie experience.

5. Tyler Perry’s Doing Life Filmmaker Tyler Perry returns to Netflix with Doing Life, a romantic drama that highlights his unique ability to connect with audiences. The film follows a single mother, played by Naomi Baker, whose life intersects with a reformed ex-convict, played by Jay Reeves. Their unexpected bond, sparked by a shared traumatic experience in prison, drives this heartfelt exploration of love and redemption.
