Everything seems to be getting more expensive, and that is especially true when it comes to smartphones and other electronics. Production and component costs are on the rise, particularly RAM and storage, and that means price increases are being passed down to consumers. Sadly, it appears that Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S27 lineup could be the next major phone series to face higher price tags.

Galaxy S27 Price Hikes Across the Board

We have already heard rumors that the S27 Ultra could see a $100 price increase, pushing starting prices to $1,400 instead of the current $1,300. However, the latest murmurs from the supply chain and rumor mills suggest that the entire Galaxy S27 lineup could experience a price hike.

The leak originates from a blog on the Korean social media platform Naver, which directly blames the alleged price increases on the exorbitant cost of memory components. Apparently, Samsung can no longer absorb these escalating manufacturing costs the way it used to, meaning prices are expected to rise starting in the Korean domestic market. While this doesn't automatically guarantee identical hikes globally, it remains unlikely that Samsung will shield international markets from widespread RAM cost pressures.

The base price increase is rumored to sit in the higher 130,000 won range, roughly translating to a $95 increase based on current exchange rates. Furthermore, storage tier upgrades are expected to become more expensive, building on existing frustrations where high-storage phone tiers feel increasingly overpriced.

The S27 Ultra Could Be Heavier, Too

Price isn't the only aspect of the Galaxy S27 Ultra undergoing changes. According to a leak from reliable tipster Ice Universe, the phone will weigh 218 grams (7.69 ounces), which is four grams heavier than the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Interestingly, the thickness is expected to remain consistent at 7.9mm (0.31 inches) for another consecutive year.

Where are those extra few grams coming from? The most probable culprit is the battery. Samsung is anticipated to adopt advanced silicon-carbon batteries—similar to those utilized in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series—allowing for significantly higher battery capacity without increasing device thickness. Rumors point to a beefier 5,700 mAh power pack, a substantial upgrade from the S26 Ultra's 5,000 mAh cell.

Additionally, Samsung is reportedly incorporating magnets directly into the phone's chassis to support a full Qi2 wireless charging experience. This would allow users to easily attach magnetic chargers and accessories without needing a specialized case, mimicking capabilities found on iPhones and recent Pixel flagships. Although magnets add minor weight, the efficiency and convenience gains could easily outweigh the fraction of an ounce added to the final build.
