Galaxy S27 Price Hikes Across the Board

Everything seems to be getting more expensive, and that's especially true when it comes to phones and other electronics. Production and component costs are on the rise, particularly RAM and storage, and that means price increases are being passed on to consumers. Sadly, it seems as though the Samsung Galaxy S27 might be the next big flagship phone line to hike prices.

We've already heard rumors that the S27 Ultra could get a $100 price increase, which would push starting prices up to $1,400 compared to the current $1,300. However, the latest whispers from the supply chain and rumor mill suggest that the entire Galaxy S27 lineup could face a price increase.

The rumor itself originates from a prominent blog on the Korean social media site Naver, specifically blaming the alleged price hikes on the soaring costs of memory components. Apparently, Samsung can no longer absorb these production bumps internally, meaning the cost of S27 models is expected to rise starting in its home market.

While this doesn't automatically guarantee equivalent price hikes in international regions, a Korean price hike driven by global RAM supply costs makes it unlikely that other markets will be completely spared. The base price increase is rumored to be in the range of roughly 130,000 won (about $95 at current exchange rates), with storage upgrades also seeing steeper costs.

The S27 Ultra Could Be Even Heavier, Too

Pricing isn't the only aspect of the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra undergoing changes. A recent leak courtesy of industry insider Ice Universe claims that the flagship device will weigh 218 grams (7.69 ounces), making it four grams heavier than the preceding Galaxy S26 Ultra. Interestingly, the thickness is expected to remain consistent at 7.9mm (0.31 inches) for another consecutive year.

While Ice Universe maintains a solid track record for Samsung leaks, the question remains: what is causing this slight weight increase, especially when rumors suggest Samsung might be trimming other hardware components, such as removing the secondary telephoto lens?

The most compelling answer points to battery technology. Samsung is widely expected to adopt advanced silicon-carbon batteries—similar to those utilized in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series—allowing the company to pack a larger energy capacity into the same physical chassis thickness. The S27 Ultra battery is rumored to leap to an impressive 5,700 mAh capacity, a notable upgrade over the S26 Ultra's 5,000 mAh power pack.

Additionally, Samsung is rumored to be embedding magnets directly into the rear chassis to support full Qi2 wireless charging natively. This addition would allow users to snap on magnetic chargers and accessories without needing a specialized case, mimicking a convenience long enjoyed by iPhone and recent Pixel users. The Galaxy S27 series is anticipated to launch globally in early 2027.
