Introduction
As production and component costs continue to soar globally, particularly concerning RAM and storage, consumers are feeling the pinch across the tech industry. Rumors are now pointing to Samsung's upcoming flagship lineupâthe Galaxy S27 seriesâas the next major range of smartphones poised to experience a significant price increase.
Galaxy S27 Price Hikes Across the Board
While previous reports suggested that only the top-tier Galaxy S27 Ultra might face a $100 bump, pushing starting prices to $1,400, recent leaks from a Naver blog indicate that the price hike could extend to the entire Galaxy S27 lineup. The primary driver behind this adjustment is the skyrocketing cost of memory components, leaving Samsung with little room to absorb manufacturing expenses.
Although these initial reports are tied to the Korean marketâwith base increases hovering in the higher 130,000 won range (roughly $95)âindustry analysts believe similar cost adjustments are likely to hit international regions. Furthermore, costs for storage upgrades are expected to climb, keeping high-capacity smartphones firmly in expensive territory.
The S27 Ultra: Heavier Build and Enhanced Battery
Alongside pricing details, leaks from trusted tipsters like Ice Universe have shed light on the physical specifications of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. The device is rumored to weigh 218 grams (7.69 ounces)âfour grams heavier than its predecessorâwhile maintaining a slim 7.9mm thickness.
This slight weight increase is widely attributed to Samsung's anticipated shift toward silicon-carbon batteries. Similar to upgrades seen in the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, this battery technology allows for a massive capacity leap, with the S27 Ultra expected to house a 5,700 mAh power pack compared to the S26 Ultra's 5,000 mAh cell.
Qi2 Charging Integration
Additionally, leaks suggest Samsung is integrating magnets into the back of the S27 series to provide a full Qi2 wireless charging experience. This will let users seamlessly attach magnetic chargers and accessories without needing specialized cases, aligning with features commonly found in iPhones and recent Pixel devices.
