Amazon Just Launched New Kindles — How to Save $68 on Your Preorder

Amazon Refreshes the Kindle Lineup

Amazon is updating its popular e-reader portfolio just in time for the upcoming October Prime Day sales event. The newly redesigned Kindle lineup introduces a range of compelling hardware upgrades, including significantly thinner profiles, page-turning speeds that are up to 30% faster, and newly introduced color options. Whether you are looking for a straightforward reading device or an advanced color e-reader, Amazon's latest generation aims to improve every aspect of the digital reading experience.

The newly unveiled hardware family encompasses several models: the standard 6" Kindle (16GB starting at $169), the 7" Kindle Paperwhite (16GB priced at $199), the upgraded 7" Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (32GB at $249), the color-capable 7" Kindle Colorsoft (16GB at $289), the top-tier 7" Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (32GB at $319), and a dedicated 6" Kids Kindle (16GB at $179).

Hands-On Impressions and New Features

Initial hands-on impressions with the new devices suggest that Amazon's engineering updates are more than just cosmetic. The 30% boost in page-turn speed creates a noticeably snappier reading flow, eliminating the slight stutter of older generations. Furthermore, the introduction of fresh colorways adds a fun, modern aesthetic to devices traditionally limited to basic black or white.

While the standard Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, and Kindle Colorsoft models command higher launch prices than their predecessors, shoppers anticipate aggressive discounts during the upcoming sales event. In the meantime, buyers can still find solid deals on previous-generation models.

Pricing, Availability, and How to Save up to $68

The standard 6" Kindle and the Kids Kindle are available for immediate purchase, while the remaining models are currently open for preorders ahead of their shipping date on October 28. Savvy shoppers looking to secure their holiday preorders can take advantage of early bundle deals to maximize savings.

For instance, opting for specific hardware bundles offers notable price cuts. The standard Kindle Paperwhite can be bundled with a protective cover and power adapter for $229 ($40 off), while the ultra-premium 7" Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition can be secured in a comprehensive bundle featuring a Kindle Click remote and a travel bag for $386—translating to a total savings of $68.

Alongside the fresh e-readers, Amazon has introduced a series of innovative accessories designed to enhance usability:

• Amazon Charging Stand ($59): A weighted, fabric-wrapped charging dock tailored for the Paperwhite and Colorsoft Signature Editions.
