Apple has officially entered a new phase of its smart home strategy with the reveal of several key products at its October 2026 'Welcome Home' event. The center stage was taken by the Apple HomeView, a brand-new smart home hub designed to compete directly with existing market leaders like the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub.
The Apple HomeView Smart Hub
The HomeView acts as the core of Apple’s updated smart home ecosystem. Featuring a 6-inch touchscreen and a powerful A18 chip, it is designed for intuitive control of home accessories. Unlike standard Apple hardware, the device notably lacks App Store access, focusing instead on acting as a centralized command center for home automation. Users can interact with the hub through voice commands powered by advanced Siri AI or via the dedicated Home app. It will be available in two forms: a standalone model with a metal speaker base and a sleek, wall-mounted option.
Upgraded Home Entertainment and Audio
Beyond the HomeView, Apple refreshed its home entertainment hardware. The new Apple TV 4K, powered by the A19 chip, retains its classic design while introducing enhanced Siri AI integration and a redesigned remote that finally includes a speaker for easier location tracking. Additionally, the HomePod mini 2 was unveiled, maintaining its iconic form factor while receiving an upgraded S10 processor to better support Apple Intelligence.
Strategic Partnerships
Apple also highlighted its commitment to a more cohesive smart home experience by partnering with industry leaders like LG and Schneider Electric. This collaboration will bring a new lineup of smart accessories—including security cameras, video doorbells, smart locks, and thermostats—to the Apple Home Collection. These devices are engineered to integrate flawlessly with the HomeView, simplifying the fragmented nature of current smart home setups.
Pricing and Availability
The HomeView is priced at $299, with pre-orders beginning immediately and shipments expected to commence on November 13. The updated Apple TV 4K will also retail for $299, launching alongside the HomeView on November 13. The HomePod mini 2 is set to hit shelves on October 30 for $149, with pre-orders currently open.
