Introduction

When searching for a reliable secondary pair of wireless earbuds—or simply trying to stay within a strict budget—finding audio gear that doesn't sound entirely hollow or cheap can be a challenge. Enter the Tribit FlyBuds C3, a pair of budget-friendly wireless earbuds priced around $35 to $40. Promising a sleek aesthetic, comfortable fit, effective Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and solid sound performance, they certainly look impressive on paper. But how do they hold up in real-world testing? I put them to the test to find out.

Design, Comfort, and Connectivity

Sporting an all-black finish with glassy accents and gunmetal detailing, the Tribit FlyBuds C3 easily outshine their price point in terms of pure aesthetics. Weighing in at a mere 0.14 ounces per bud, they are lightweight enough to wear for hours on end without causing ear fatigue. They feature a downward-stem design reminiscent of classic AirPods, housing responsive, tactile touch-sensitive controls that let you manage playback, answer calls, and toggle ANC effortlessly.

Equipped with Bluetooth 6.0, the earbuds provide a robust wireless connection and feature multipoint connectivity, allowing you to seamlessly switch between your smartphone and laptop. They also feature an IP55 durability rating, ensuring they can easily withstand sweat at the gym or a sudden downpour.

Sound Quality and Companion App

Out of the box, the FlyBuds C3 offer surprisingly good audio performance for the price, though they do require a bit of tweaking. The high end can occasionally lean toward tinniness, but this is easily counteracted by diving into the companion Tribit app. Using preset EQs like the BassX profile—or building a custom one—brings out a punchy, strong bass line and balances the overall profile. The app itself is intuitive, providing access to 10 preset EQ modes, customizable noise control levels, and a Game Mode for low-latency audio.

Active Noise Cancellation and Call Performance

The ANC on the FlyBuds C3 is surprisingly competent. While it may not match the absolute silence provided by higher-end competitors, it puts up a strong fight against ambient office chatter and low-level background noise. With five distinct ANC levels available, users can easily adjust how much of the outside world they want to let in.

Unfortunately, call quality is one of the primary trade-offs at this price point. Despite utilizing six microphones and AI noise-minimizing tech, colleagues noted that voice transmission sounded quite echoey during team calls.

Battery Life

Battery performance is solid, offering up to 35 hours of total playback with the charging case and 8 hours in the buds alone with ANC turned off. Turning ANC on drops total battery life to around 25 hours. While these numbers are respectable, competitors in similar or slightly higher price tiers—such as CMF by Nothing—offer significantly longer battery stretches.

Verdict

The Tribit FlyBuds C3 prove that you don't need to spend hundreds of dollars to get a comfortable fit, sleek design, and decent active noise cancellation. While they suffer from minor drawbacks like echoey call quality and a slightly tinny high end out-of-the-box, these issues are easily managed with app adjustments. If you are looking for a pair of budget earbuds that punch above their weight class for music and media consumption, they are well worth a look.
