Despite receiving acclaim as a technological powerhouse upon its launch, the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are encountering early technical challenges that have frustrated some new users. Just two weeks into its market availability, reports of hardware and software irregularities have surfaced, overshadowing the device's impressive debut.

Connectivity Struggles for AT&T Users

One of the most significant concerns involves cellular connectivity issues, specifically affecting AT&T customers. Numerous reports on platforms like Reddit and the official Apple Support Community indicate that affected iPhone 18 Pro Max units are frequently booting into 'SOS mode' or experiencing extremely slow data performance. Initial investigations suggest that these problems may be linked to the eSIM transfer process during the device setup phase.

In response to the growing complaints, AT&T has been proactively reaching out to customers via text message, advising them to update their devices to iOS 27.0.1 to address potential connectivity gaps. The company has publicly stated that maintaining stable connectivity for users is a top priority and that they are collaborating closely with Apple to resolve these disruptions.

Reports of 'Popping' Speaker Noise

Beyond connectivity, a subset of users has reported an unusual audio anomaly described as a 'crackling' or 'popping' noise emanating from the device's speakers. Some users have likened the sound to the electrical click often heard when unplugging an auxiliary cord from a device. While some users have reported that exchanging their device for a new one did not eliminate the issue, leading to speculation that it may be a software-related bug, it remains an unconfirmed phenomenon. Notably, testing conducted by the team at Tom’s Guide on current review units was unable to replicate the speaker popping, suggesting that the issue may not be universal.

Ongoing Stability Concerns

Beyond these two primary reports, early adopters have noted other minor performance hiccups, including occasional freezing of the Control Center, crashes involving system widgets, and reports of rapid battery depletion and overheating. Furthermore, some users have cited instances of abnormal camera color reproduction.

Most of these software-related instability issues are reportedly being mitigated by the recent release of the iOS 27.0.1 patch. Apple continues to monitor feedback from the community, and users experiencing persistent hardware issues are encouraged to visit an authorized Apple or carrier retail location for professional assessment.
