Minisforum G1 Pro Crowned Top Mini PC of the Year — And It’s Currently $450 Off

Introduction to Console-Sized Power

Making the switch from console to PC gaming no longer means being tethered to your desk by a bulky, massive desktop tower. A prime example is the Minisforum G1 Pro, a compact gaming powerhouse that is smaller than a PS5 Slim while easily outperforming both it and the Xbox Series X in raw CPU processing and ray-tracing performance.

After rigorous testing across the computing lineup, the Minisforum G1 Pro earned the prestigious title of best mini PC of the year in the Tom’s Guide Awards for 2026. For those looking to grab this award-winning machine, Newegg is currently offering a massive discount, slashing $450 off its standard price to bring it down to $1,699 from its usual $2,149.

Smaller Than a PS5, Built Like a PC

Measuring 12.4 x 8.5 x 2.25 inches, the G1 Pro is certainly larger than your average ultra-compact square mini PC, yet it maintains a footprint significantly smaller than the PS5 Pro or PS5 Slim. Crucially, it features an internal power supply, reducing cable clutter and making it remarkably easy to transport into the living room for big-screen gaming sessions.

The chassis features large cooling vents on the right side and top to manage thermal loads from its dedicated Nvidia RTX GPU. Up front, an adjustable RGB light bar allows users to customize colors and effects via pre-installed software.

Desktop-Grade Hardware & Performance

Beneath its compact exterior, the G1 Pro packs an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HX processor paired with 32GB of DDR5 RAM. For graphics, it houses a dedicated Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU and a 1TB SSD pre-installed with Windows 11.

In gaming benchmarks, the system comfortably delivers smooth frame rates, pushing over 90 fps in titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 and solid performance in Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p. Leveraging Nvidia's DLSS technology allows players to effortlessly scale resolutions for 1440p gaming or big-screen television setups.

Upgradeability and Connectivity

Unlike many sealed mini PCs, the G1 Pro is designed for hardware enthusiasts. Removing the vertical stand and two base screws reveals an easily accessible interior. Users can expand the storage up to 8TB using dual M.2 SSD slots and upgrade the memory up to 96GB across its dual DDR5 RAM slots. Furthermore, connectivity is top-tier, offering Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, multiple USB-C and USB-A ports, dual HDMI 2.1 outputs, DisplayPort connections, and a fast 5Gb Ethernet port.

The Ultimate Portable Gaming Rig

Whether used as a primary desktop driver or packed into a backpack alongside a portable monitor for travel, the Minisforum G1 Pro redefines what a mini PC can achieve. With a $450 discount currently available at Newegg, there has never been a better time to upgrade your gaming setup.
